Would your husband relocate for your career?


More millennial men are willing to make sacrifices for women's' career goals than any other generation, according to a new survey.
The Mayflower Moving company found that more than half of millennial males are willing to move to a new city in the interest of advancing their female partner's career.
That's compared with 43per cent of Boomers and just 28per cent of pre-Boomers.

But its not simply a question of 'would you move?' Fifty-six per cent of Millennials actually know at least one man who has recently moved for a wife's job.
And of all generations, 55per cent of women say they would move their family for their job.

Sheryl Sandberg often advises both men and women to choose a partner who is supportive of their goals, claiming it is one of the most important career decisions a person can make.
According to reports, 31, moved from Chicago to Dallas last summer so his finace Jennifer Peterson, 30,could pursue a better job opportunity.

'He was kind of a part of the picture that had to come with me if I was going to consider opportunities down here,' Miss Peterson said of Mr Asplund, who works in business development and sales for an office supply company.

'Just because we moved to Dallas this time doesn't mean my career takes precedence over his,' Miss Peterson added. 'We're really willing to take the best opportunity for us jointly.'
This reflects Hanna Rosin's view of what she dubs the 'seesaw marriage,' an arrangement in which the roles of the earner and childcare provider are constantly changing.
The author of The End of Men writes: 'The division of earnings might be 40:60 or 80:20—and a year or two later may flip, giving each partner a shot at satisfaction.'
