Many cancer-fighting fruits and vegetables are at their nutritional peak in the fall, and it’s a good time to incorporate them into your diet, a nutritional expert advises.
For example, research suggests that eating an apple a day really may keep the doctor away, by helping to prevent throat, mouth, lung and possibly breast cancer, noted Stacy Kennedy, a senior nutritionist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
Apples contain a nutrient called quercetin, which protects the cell’s DNA from damage that could lead to cancer.
“The key is to eat them raw and with the skin on. That’s where many of the nutrients are found,” Kennedy said in an institute news release.
Cranberries, another healthy fall favorite, are in season and at their nutritional peak now.
Stroke has a new indicator! They say if you forward this to ten people, you stand a chance of saving one life. Will you send this along? Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue:
During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ...she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.
Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die.
It’s important for you to take care of yourself before you try to fix your relationship. The old saying ‘You can’t give away what you don’t have” applies here. Until you are peaceful and happy, you won’t have a peaceful, happy relationship.
If you skip these steps and jump immediately into the murky waters of your troubled relationshp, you are at high risk for going under. That’s why it’s so important to do all you can to stabilize yourself before you get in over your head.
Before you confront core relationship issues, first follow these two steps to increase your chances of success:
I am sure by now you’ve heard different version of what draws men towards woman. In your head, you think that to be an adorable woman men can’t resist you have to look really beautiful. Physical appearance alone does not attract men. While this may assist in starting something, it is short-term. Looks usually fades off and then men get bored and more on to the next woman.

Colon cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the United States. It is also the second leading cause of cancer related death in the United States. Colon cancer is a cancer that effects the large intestine, specifically the lower part of your digestive system. Rectal cancer is cancer of the last couple inches of the colon. Together these two cancers are commonly referred to as colorectal cancers. Colon cancer may begin as a benign clump of cells at first known as adenomatous polyps. Over time these noncancerous growth may develop into cancerous cells and become colon cancer.
On Nov. 25, 1932, FDR had just defeated Herbert Hoover, the daily
newspaper cost two cents, and Ann Shawah said "I do" to John Betar in
Harrison, N.Y.
Fast forward through 13 presidents and 80 years to 2012: the Betars are
still happily married. After five children, 14 grandchildren and 16
great children, the couple from Fairfield, Conn., will celebrate their
80th wedding anniversary Sunday.
"We are so blessed. We are fortunate," John Betar, 101, said.
"We are very fortunate. It can be repeated and repeated," Ann, 97,
echoed. "It is unconditional love and understanding. We have had that.
We consider it a blessing."
What's their secret?
"They have this wonderful ability to accept life as it comes," their
daughter Renee Betar said. "They have a way of trying to look around at
the things that they do have -- the family and the blessings. They came
from a generation where there is such respect for each other and
caring."
The Betars consider themselves "fortunate." Hesitant to dole out advice
to newlyweds, they each offered simple, guiding mantras to a lasting
marriage.
"Get along. Compromise. Live within your means and be content," Betar
said, before adding, "And let your wife be the boss."
Adobo is the immersion of raw food in a stock comprised variously of paprika, oregano, salt, garlic, and vinegar to preserve and enhance its flavor.
The practice is native to Spanish cuisine. It was widely adopted in Latin America and other Spanish colonies around the globe, particularly the Philippines, where Filipino adobo is something of a national dish. There are many ways to cook adobo.
The cooking instruction below is the simplest way to cook this delicious dish.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, olive oil is better
3 lbs chicken thighs
3/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 tsp peppercorns (crushed)
1/4 tsp salt
3 cloves garlic (chopped or crushed)
2 bay leaves
1/4 of a medium onion (chopped)
2 medium size potato, cut into cubes (optional)
Instructions
1. Put all the ingredients in a casserole, mix it well and marinate for more than one hour.
2. Bring to boil, and then let it all simmer for about 40 minutes (or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked.)
3. If you want to add potatoes, cook it separately for best results. Fry it in low heat until soft (do not overcook).
Then mix it in the adobo when cooked.
d found his five children outside, still in
their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers
strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife’s car was open, as
was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.
Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess.
I have sent you to a man's
house to be a blessing to him and 'help' him achieve the goals I gave
him. He's not like you at all. He's burly, quite insensitive. You'd be
surprised he might not even realize you've come to help! So, to help
your task and protect you from being on the receiving end of his
imperfections here are some vital instructions.
1. Don't ever
try to fix him, if ...
he ever develops a fault, I'm his
manufacturer and you will need to talk to me about him. You're his wife,
not his God. I don't particularly like it when you think you can change
him and you attempt to take my place.
2. Well, I'm your God
too, but your husband is my deputy in your life. To get the best of him,
you need to respect him like you do me. Get more instructions on this
from your grandmother Sarah.
In my marriage,
sometimes I stand beside my husband,
shoulder to shoulder
facing the world together.
Sometimes I stand in front of my husband,
particularly when he is tired and just needs a break. And there are
other times when I stand behind him.
It doesn't make me weak
It doesn't mean I am unequal
It doesn't mean I am silenced
It
doesn't mean my husband makes all the decisions
Where I am
standing has nothing to do with my worth or with my level of
independence
Hopefully, you and your significant other are treating each other
well. Not sure if that's the case? Take a step back from the dizzying
sensation of being swept off your feet and think about whether your
relationship has these seven qualities:
Mutual respect. Does he or she get how cool you are
and why? (Watch out if the answer to the first part is yes but only
because you're acting like someone you're not!) The key is that your BF
or GF is into you for who you are — for your great sense of humor, your
love of reality TV, etc. Does your partner listen when you say you're
not comfortable doing something and then back off right away? Respect in
a relationship means that each person values who the other is and
understands and would never challenge — the other person's boundaries.
I am sharing with you the Top 10 'need to know' things I have read about raising girls:
(Sounds funny but guess u can pick one or two....)
1. Invest in toilet paper. Seriously! You might want to think about ordering in toilet paper by the truck load. The older they get, the more toilet paper they use and we easily, and I mean easily go through 25 - 30 rolls per week.
2. Have a good hiding place for toilet paper. (If the kids see your stock pile they won't be as careful about not using so much because they will think that you are almost out. I hide mine in the stow-and-go in my minivan.
What exactly happened to Dr. Olawunmi Thorpe, an Ogun State indigene, who died a homeless man, may never be known.
To passersby and residents, who saw Thorpe everyday in the rubbish dump beside the rail line at Fagba Bus Stop in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State, he was a deranged man.
But what many people did not know was that Thorpe had a Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Mass Communication and a PhD in English Language.
All these information came to light when we got information that the “mad man” who spoke impeccable English had died about 5pm Wednesday last week.
